I’m back from Hawaii now. Actually we got back last week, but I’ve spent the past week catching up with stuff that happened while I was gone. Sorry for the late update. Hawaii was a blast, sunny and around 80 every day, with a light sea breeze. In the beginning of the trip, Mickey and I wandered around with Eli and Megan, heading up to Hapuna Beach, and over to Green Sands Beach, both of which were a really fun time (Hapuna is this great beach, relatively popular, and remarkably pretty… Green Sands is down at south point, and requires a 2 mile hike to get to… but is well worth it if you like bodysurfing).

Off to Hawaii!
I’m off to Hawaii for 10 days, kind of a honeymoon before the actual wedding (hey, it’s when we have time!) It should be a great deal of fun, though I’m kind of nervous about making all the connections tomorrow (starting at 5:45am and we get there 16ish hours later… fun).
Not really much else to say here. I hope you all (or rather, whoever actually reads this site… ie, no one) have a wonderful New Years, and hopefully I’ll post pictures and such of the trip when I get back!
Pre-Trip Ramblings
It is the week before Mickey and I fly to Hawaii. I’m really looking forward to it, both because I get to see her and because, well, it’s HAWAII! Love that place. Kicks my ass. Should be interesting to go there during the winter instead of June like I did last time (it will be Mickey’s first trip to Hawaii, I hope she digs it).

At a One-Act Reading
Play: The Final 45 Minutes of the World at a Coffee Shop
Strange throwback at the moment. I decided to go visit Haehnel, drop off the book I picked up for him while I was in Chicago.
It’s so STRANGE being back here. I got here a few minutes before school ended, and I caught the tail end of theatre arts. In observation: actors are actors, through and through, no matter what age, or how good they actually are. Or maybe it’s just that I’m out of this circle of people (actors… high schoolers). Either way, a lot of what they say I can’t even make out. It is gibberish, spoken quickly and mumbled, slurred. And then they get up on the stage and are suddenly in “stage mode”, everything enunciated carefully.

Toys, Trips, and Other
Sitting back, toying with my new toy.
A little bit of a redundancy there, but that’s the mood I’m in at the moment. A few things have happened since I last wrote.

Stuff, UBERCON, and Stuff
It’s been a very exciting month. I’ve been working on my schoolwork, which is a course on 3d modelling and computer graphics. It’s slow going, and relatively difficult (especially since I’m learning it on my own), but a great deal of fun. I also spent two weeks with my fiance (as I already mentioned), which was a mixture of good (spending time with Mickey is ALWAYS good) and bad (no real net connection for me… made it hard to get some things accomplished that I needed/wanted to do). I wouldn’t trade the time for anything, though.
Also this month, a lot of things started coming to a head for UberCon.

A Late Update
Sorry for the late update. I’ve been down in DC for the past week (and will be for another few days before heading up to Chicago to meet the soon-to-be in-laws), and between that and other aspects of life, I just haven’t had a chance to update the site. Hopefully this won’t be a recurring situation.
I also learned a fun new fact: blogs are time sensitive! An entry will remain on the main page for an allotted amount of time (OR until you update, whichever comes first). So all of the entries that were on the main page disappeared and went into the archives. Pain in the ass! I may see about fixing that a later date.
I updated the site, of course, because I added two more links to my links section. My friend Che finally got a web address, so I’m adding him in. And the other is me finally getting around to adding Something Positive to my official list of webcomics I read.
I’ll try to post again after Thanksgiving to let you know how that all went. (Should be fine, but I’m too paranoid to not be at least a little nervous.)
In DC, Bored
Well, this was an interesting day. But I’ll start a bit further back than that. I’ve spent the past week or so down in Washingon DC with Mickey. It’s been a mixture of good and bad — she’s been working every single day thus far, for long days (8am to 7pm, not including commute times), so I’ve had a lot of time by myself in her apartment. This is good because it gives me time to get some schoolwork done, but at the same time, I’ve been getting kind of moody and lonely, since I have NO interaction all day (can’t really be online very well, and I don’t know anyone in the area, let alone people who’d be available to talk or hang out), and also it means Mickey gets home tired and worn out.

The Process
Life is a process. A screwy, non-linear process, but nonetheless it is still a process. What I currently have on my plate:
—> a new semester of school, focusing on 3d computer graphics and solid geometry;
—> a loving relationship, sadly long distance, and making plans for the wedding this spring (I’ll talk more about that later);
—> moving into a place of my own, already two months there and I STILL haven’t found time to unpack
—> UberCon, a massive (and hopefully successful) gaming convention that I’m assisting with (I’m a co-founder), contacting the media for it, as well as helping where I can with advertising (I’ll write more about this later too);
—> vtprophoto.org, the website for the Vermont Professional Photographers association, has fallen under my jurisdiction recently, and a great deal of work needs to be done on that just to get it to a point where it can be easily maintained;
—> Avatar, a MUD (an online multiplayer text-based game and online community) that I’ve been an administrator on for several years, has several projects that I’m supposed to be working on (and haven’t for lack of time and energy);
—> “Everyday life”, an endeavor I was never very good at, what with a generally laid-back nature and absent-mindedness. Having a social life, as well as bill paying, grocery shopping, cooking/eating, et cetera, all would fall under this one.

New Graphics Card!
I installed my new graphics card into my desktop today. Installed Warcraft III, and the Jedi Knight II demo, both of which play superbly. In another few moments, I’ll have a conference call concerning UberCon, so I’m really just killing time until then. (YES, I am sitting in Dirt looking like a dork with a headset, but c’est la vie: there is reasonable reception here, and I haven’t had a chance to turn my long distance back on.)
