Great to see a new post!

I can really relate to your troubles with motivation and I agree that what gives me the best motivation is knowing that I have a responsibility to at least one other person, that my time and effort will be valued by that person.

For my career interests though - mostly film/video work right now - I don't really have anyone else pushing me to get work done. So to be diligent, my current strategy - since I need to make a demo reel before I can promote myself for paid work - is to offer to do promos for non-profits. I guess non-coincidentally, I have been committing to projects that have deadlines, most recently a promo for a play that has it's 3 week run starting this weekend, so that I have to get it done or else let myself and that person I made a promise to down. Being a person that likes a lot of time to get something done, the challenge of having to work faster than I would prefer has been good for me and I am finding that it's slowly helping me procrastinate less.

Hope you find that helpful in some way.

I look forward to your future writings :)

I agree with what you said, good sir! Very much so. I have a similar mentality, as you know. Speaking of "projects", I might have one that I could use your help with and focus on. Gimme an email if your interested in making a flash game.
